Snapshot Isolation
Snapshot isolation is a database concurrency control mechanism where each transaction reads from a consistent snapshot of the data, unaffected by concurrent writes. It reduces many read/write conflicts and anomalies. Consensus is that snapshot isolation provides a good balance between performance and correctness for many workloads, but it still requires understanding edge cases like write skew.
