Failover

Failover is the process of switching workloads from a failing or unavailable system to a standby system or site to keep services running. It may be automatic or manual, planned or unplanned. The consensus is that successful failover depends on accurate dependency mapping, up-to-date data, and automated orchestration, and should be regularly tested as part of resilience drills rather than assumed to work on paper.
