ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) loads raw data into a target system first and then performs transformations there, typically leveraging the power of modern cloud warehouses or lakes. It offers more flexibility for new use cases. Consensus is that ELT can accelerate delivery and experimentation, but still requires strong governance, cost control and resilience considerations for both raw and transformed layers.
