Drift Detection

Drift detection identifies when the actual state of infrastructure or applications diverges from the desired or declared state, for example from IaC definitions. It helps catch manual changes, misconfigurations or failed deployments. Consensus is that drift detection is vital for keeping environments predictable and for ensuring that recovery or re-provisioning based on code produces the expected, secure state.
