Deduplication

Deduplication identifies and stores only unique blocks or segments of data, replacing duplicates with references. This dramatically reduces storage consumption and network usage for backups and archives. Consensus is that dedupe is a mature, expected feature in modern backup platforms and is critical to keeping long-term retention economically viable, especially for unstructured data.
