Data Residency
Data residency refers to the physical or geographic location where data is stored and processed, often driven by regulatory, contractual or organisational policies. It is related to, but distinct from, data sovereignty. Consensus is that residency requirements must be factored into cloud region choice, DR site placement and backup strategies to avoid compliance violations and architectural dead ends.
