Continuous Data Protection captures every write or change so systems can be rolled back to almost any recent point in time. It significantly reduces RPO compared with periodic backups. The consensus is that CDP is best suited for high-value, transaction-intensive workloads and should be combined with snapshot and backup strategies to balance cost, complexity and recovery flexibility.
