CMDB

A Configuration Management Database stores information about IT assets (configuration items) and their relationships, such as servers, applications, services and network components. It is part of ITIL and similar frameworks. The consensus is that a CMDB can significantly support resilience and troubleshooting if it is kept reasonably accurate; an outdated CMDB is often worse than none at all.
