The backup window is the period during which backup jobs are allowed to run, often chosen to minimise impact on production workloads. In 24×7 environments this window can be very small or non-existent. Consensus is that modern approaches use snapshots, CDP and offloading techniques to shrink or virtualise the backup window instead of relying on long nightly jobs.
